The American women won the world title again.

The women's basketball World Cup was held in Berlin, Germany. The championship lasted ten days, from 4 to 13 September. 16 national teams from all over the world played at the tournament. The games were watched by over 230,000 spectators in the arenas.

The USA and France played in the final on 13 September. France was playing in a final at a World Cup for the first time. The French women started very well and led by 14 points. But the American women came back into the game before half-time. In the end they won clearly, 97-79.

It is their fifth world title in a row. In total the USA already has 12 world titles. No other country has so many. The best player at the tournament was Breanna Stewart. In the final she had 22 points and 10 rebounds.

In the game for third place Spain beat the hosts Germany.
