A lot of money for the best athletes in Budapest.

In September there was a new championship in athletics in Budapest, in Hungary. This new competition is called the Ultimate Championship. It lasted three days and was the first championship of its kind in history.

In 2026 there are no Olympic Games and there is no world championship. So the athletes got a new competition at the end of the season. Only the best athletes in the world took part in the championship. Among them were many Olympic and world champions.

The prizes at the championship were very big. In total there was 10 million dollars for all athletes. Each winner of an event got 150,000 dollars. The other athletes also got less money. The winners got trophies, not medals.

The pole vaulter Mondo Duplantis from Sweden won with 6.20 metres. The American Melissa Jefferson-Wooden won the 100 and the 200 metres. She ran the 100 metres in just 10.62 seconds. In the end the athletes from the USA had the most wins.
