Why are summers in Europe getting hotter and hotter?

Today the summer in Europe is very hot. In many cities in the south it is often over 40 degrees. Europe is warming twice as fast as the rest of the world.

Heat and drought often bring fires. Drought means that it does not rain for a long time. Then the forests burn very easily. In 2023 there was a huge fire in Greece.

The heat is also dangerous for people's health. In the summer of 2022 more than 60,000 people died from the heat. That is why many cities plant new trees and create parks. Trees give shade and cool the streets.

Why is it so hot today? People burn a lot of coal, oil and gas for energy. This creates gases, and they warm the Earth. The EU wants to reduce these gases by 2050. But the road there is still long.
