People want to go to the Moon again.

In 1972 people were on the Moon for the last time. Since then nobody has been there. Now NASA wants to send astronauts to the Moon again. The programme is called Artemis.

In 2022 a capsule without people flew around the Moon. Then four astronauts should fly around the Moon. Later other astronauts should land near the south pole. But the programme is very expensive and has many problems.

China also wants to go to the Moon. By 2030 China wants to send its own astronauts there too. Many people talk about a new race in space.

Why does everyone want to go to the south pole? There is probably ice in the dark craters there. You can get drinking water from the ice. You can also make rocket fuel from the water. But the biggest goal is Mars.
